They named them The Piedmont Boll Weevils because back from the 1800s until 2000 or right before we were a mill town. Cannon Mills actually. Then in 2000-2002 they changed their name to The Intimidators in honor of Dale Earnhardt and just 2-3 years ago they built a brand latest ball park and named the team The Cannon Ballers.
